Abstract/Contents:Two longitudinal studies to evaluate new Poa pratensis cultivars were established in a Kentucky location; one evaluates 30 cultivars with three replications, and tables provide annual and 8 year average visual quality rating results at 1" and 2" cutting heights. Among the 30 cultivars, Adelphi, Rugby, and A-34 rated highest at 1" cutting height, with Adelphi, Vantage, and Enmundi highest at 2" cutting height (both 8 year average figures). The second evaluates 88 named or experimental selections (as part of the National Kentucky Bluegrass Test-1980). A table evaluating three replications provides visual quality rating results over a 3 year period, with a 1.5" cutting height. I-13, TPI 96B, Plush, and Aspen rated highest on a 3 year average among the 88 varieties. In both cases, plots are not irrigated to maximize stress, and 3 lbs of nitrogen/1000 ft2 has been applied in fall and early winter.
