| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study using test plots to "study the effects of chlordane, dieldrin, and DDT on earthworms with particular emphasis on DDT." Results include that "earthworms were only mildly affected by light applications of DDT. On the other hand they were able to accumulate considerable quantities of DDT. This combination of low mortality and high DDT accumulation is the main hazard to birds that feed upon them," and that "the reduction of the amount of DDT present in the earthworms owing to a treatment with lime was small but consistent for all plots." |
