| Abstract/Contents: | 1984 test to evaluate fungicide treatments for control of Helminthosporium leaf spot (Drechslera poae) and red thread (Laetisaria fuciformis). Fungicides were evaluated on plots of mature Poa pratensis at a Kentucky location."Turf received minimal care and was maintained at a 2.5" cutting height. Fungicide treatments were applied to 6 X 10' plots in a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. A backpack sprayer with a 6' boom having 4 nozzles applied treatments at 25 psi delivering 2 gal/1000 ft2. Most plots were treated bi-weeky from 27 April-5 Sept and after a dormant period due to drought, were continued on 12 Oct. Plots were evaluted 31 Oct. Following a cool, wet spring and warm, mostly dry summer, moist and mild conditions prevailed in the fall. Leaf spot and red thread pressures were low, and red thread distribution was uneven. Dyrene 4F, Daconil 2787, and Chipco 26019 were the most effective fungicides for both diseases. Banner was effective in controlling red thread." Results appear in a table. |
