| Abstract/Contents: | Test to evaluate the residual activity of Rubigan and Cutless on creeping bentgrass germination and seedling growth. "Rubigan 50W and Cutless 50W at two rates each were applied to Kentucky bluegrass turf on 9/12/84. Each treatment was replicated three times with individual plots measuring 6 by 12 feet. Roundup was sprayed on the entire test area on September 14 to kill existing turf. Beginning September 19 and continuing at weekly intervals for four weeks, Penncross creeping bentgrass at 1.5 lb/1000 ft2 was overseeded into the test." Bentgrass cover was evaluated on Oct 2 and 15 and Dec 14 and weed infestation on Dec 14. Weeds included Stellaria media, clovers, Lamium amplexicaule, Viola, etc. A table of results is included. Weed cover in Cutless plots for all overseeding dates and both rates was less than 2% while check was 15% or greater, but bentgrass cover was always best in Rubigan plots. |
