Abstract/Contents:States that "two separate experiments were conducted on bermudagrass green overseeded with perennial ryegrass." States that "the first experiment (I) was conducted to determine the tolerance of ryegrass to postemergence broadleaf weed herbicides" and "the second experiment (II) was conducted to determine whether postemergence herbicides would gradually reduce ryegrass competition and hasten bermudagrass transition." Details the 12 application rates of herbicides for experiment I. States that "the data shows that all herbicides were safe to apply to the perennial ryegrass" and "only slight discoloration occurred and turf fully recovered." Details the 12 herbicide application rates studied in experiment II. States that "these results show that paraquat severely injured the overseeded ryegrass and it should not be used to hasten bermudagrass transition" and "Kerb did not hasten bermudagrass transition until after May when compared with untreated turf." Also states that "neither Roundup, Sencor, nor MSMA improved the transition of bermudagrass when compared with transition in untreated plots."
