Abstract/Contents:"The effects of light intensity, temperature, humidity, soil moisture and simulated rainfall of the performance of fluazifop-butyl in Elymus repens were studied in controlled environments. During the short-term (0-24h) post-spray period, increases in the levels of light, temperature and humidity enhances herbicide were no adverse effects of wet soil conditions (approximately twice field capacity) on performance. Simulated rain treatments of 2 mm h-1 and above influenced herbicide performance, depending upon dose, rain intensity and the time interval between spraying and the onset of rain. A low rain intensity of 0.5 mm h-1 did not reduce herbicide efficacy even when applied 10 min after spraying. Longer term studies (up to 4 wk after application) showed herbicide activity was reduced with increases in temperature and light intensity in contrast to results in the short-term experiments. Loss of herbicide due to vaporization and metabolic degradation within the past were suggested as factors contributing to this poorer activity."
