Abstract/Contents: | "The effect of nitrogen fertilizer type on take-all disease was examined using the plots and headlands of a trial put down for another purpose at Grasslands Division. An outbreak of the disease had occurred on the block shortly after establishment. The standard nitrogen application used was sulfate of ammonia but the headlands and some of the plots were given the same nitrogen level in the form of urea. The pH of all plots was adjusted to 6.0 by annual spring applications of lime. An outbreak of take-all disease was observed on two occasions. On both occasions, the disease incidence was much greater where urea had been used." |
