Similar environmental conditions are required for many of these diseases in Florida. Similar environmental conditions are required for many of these disseases to establish as well as increase in severity. Chemical control measures that have been used in the past as the total disease control program, are now being integrated with such non-chemical controls as host resistance and cultural practices to manage disease problems. Anthracnose, Brown patch, Cercospora leaf spot, Dollar spot, Fairy ring, Gray leaf spot, Helminthosporium leaf spot, Pythium blight, and Root rot, Rust, and Slime mold are the common turfgrass diseases in Florida that are discussed. The causal fungus, host grasses, host susceptiblity, optimal environmental conditions for disease development, and symptoms of the diseases are also discussed for each disease.
