Abstract/Contents:Study to evaluate the persistence of commonly used turf chemicals as they relate to renovation and establishment. All chemicals (Cutlass, Rubigan, Ronstar, Betasan, Dacthal, Balan, Trimec, Embark, Team, Pendimethalin, Glean) were applied at label recommended rates to a Kentucky bluegrass turf on April 12, 1985. Three days later, the entire plot area was treated with glyphosate to kill the existing turf. Weekly overseedings were made on April 19, April 26, May 3 and May 10. For each seeding, a vertical mower was used to loosen the thatch and dead grass. After removing this material, five pounds per 1000 ft2 of Ky 31 tall fescue was broadcast over the area. Two applications of MSMA at 2# ai/A were applied in July to reduce crabgrass competition. A table provides % tall fescue on 5/24, 6/21, and 10/31 for each herbicide at each seeding week.
