Abstract/Contents:Test to evaluate the residual activity of Rubigan and Cutless on creeping bentgrass germination and seedling growth. Glyphosate was sprayed on Kentucky bluegrass turf on April 2, 1985 to kill the existing turf. Nine days later the area was renovated with a vertical mower and Penncross creeping bentgrass was seeded at the rate of 1.5 pounds per 1000 ft2. After the bentgrass began germinating and continuing at weekly intervals for four weeks, Rubigan 1 AS at 0.25 and 0.50 and Cutless 50 WP at 0.75 and 1.50 lb ai/A (three replications) were applied to the turf. The first spray date was April 19. Individual plot size was 3' X 6'. Results are provided in a table. Rubigan reduced cover most when sprayed 4/19 while cover was best in Cutless plots when sprayed 4/26. No phytotoxicity was observed for either herbicide at either rate if sprayed 5/3 or 5/10.
