Abstract/Contents:Points out that pentachloronitrobenzene (PCNB) is commonly used to treat several turf diseases. Explains that this chemical is toxic and has accumulated in some algae, so runoff of this can be devastating to fish and the food chain. Details a study done to "analyze PCNB (Pentachloronitrobenzene) in leachate samples from a green with annual PCNB applications." Expected results include that "the project will identify temperature, precipitation, and flow events that may favor PCNB movement into leachate" and "best management practices could be developed to minimize or eliminate the compounds from leachate."
