Abstract/Contents: | Refutes a rumor that the metro-Atlanta area has a low water supply. Provides a definition for withdrawals, the amounts of water both pumped out of and returned into the Chattahoochee River and Lake Lanier, and the amount of highly treated wastewater that comes back to both bodies of water. States that although the amount of water consumption did slightly exceed the amount predicted there is nothing to worry about. Also explains that the "annual average water withdrawals...are well below the annual average water withdrawal...proposed in the interstate water allocation program." Stresses that although the results of the study prove water is not running out, it still must be used wisely and efficiently. |
