| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses techniques for the construction and maintenance of golf tees and fairways. Suggests slightly increased tee elevation and long, easy grade supporting banks. Presents suggestions for the general construction of tees. Included in these suggestions are seperate winter and summer tees, a sprinkler system on either side of the tee, four to six inches of top soil under the tee, and the use of kikuyu grass on the tee area. Presents suggestions for maintenance of tees. Included in these suggestions are re-turfing at the end of the golfing season, regular top-dressing, ferilizing with a 6.3.2 ratio mixture, and the application of carbonate of lime every three years. Suggests the removal of stones, possible ploughing, harrowing and rolling, and the planting of couch grass roots for the construction of fairways. Suggestions are presented for the maintenance of fairways, including applications of lime, top-dressing and possible re-turfing. |
