Abstract/Contents:Profiles the paspalum ergot disease, first reported in December, 1935. States that "investigation showed that the paspalum grass, known botanically as Paspalum dilatatum, was giving off a gummy exudate from the seed heads, which was causing a number of complaints to be received by golf club officials from members who found that their clothing was being badly stained as a result of coming in contact with this particular grass." Explains the causes and the formation of the disease. Explains the seasonal cycle of the disease. States that "continuous mowing, in order to keep grass from seeding is the only method at present known for control of the disease."
