Abstract/Contents: | Presents various notes of Queensland greenkeepers. Discusses the Queensland Board of Greenkeeping Research's fourth Greenkeepers' Educational Field Day. Describes the morning session of the field day: a tour of inspection over the course for the visitng greenkeepers; and the afternoon session: a period of relaxation. Discusses the need of the members of a greenkeeper's staff to be "fully conversant with the internal working of the mechanical equipment used on the course." Discusses the effecitveness and economic advantages of motor scythes for the removal of long grass. Explains the importance of fairway improvements and the technique of following cultivation and fertilization with a top-dressing of tan bark. Presents "a tribute to the men who keep the greens." Reports that "Mr. C. T. White, F.L.S., Queensland Government Botanist, is to go to the famous botanical centre at Kew, England, for a term as Australian laisison officer." |
