Abstract/Contents:Discusses the construction and maintenance of tees and fairways on soil golf courses. Describes the soil that should be used for golf tee construction. Discusses the use of Kikuyugrass on tees, and the benefits of using the grass. Describes the maintenance of tees, explaining that "maintenance of tees should conform to quite as regular a programme as greens, and a reasonably good quality top-dressing should be applied with the addition of a suitable fertiliser." Briefly discusses sheet erosion, a major problem on the fairways of soil courses. Briefly describes drains for fairways, and profiles two different types of drains. Discusses fertilization for fairways. States that "concentrated and conscientious work, plus knowledge, can bring tees and fairways on hard soil courses to a high standard."
