Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the impact that the emergence of management techniques and the introduction of rubber-cored balls had on golf turf. Discusses rubber core and gutty core balls and their advantages and disadvantages. Describes how liming after World War One caused many problems on golf courses throughout England, inlcuding "coarse grass, weeds, worms, and mud." Describes the formation and success of the Board of Greenskeeping research headed by Norman Hackett. Describes the research and work done to undo the lime damage from fertilization done after WWI. |
