Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the concern of Lake County, Oregon, community members about chemical vegation control, stating that "most people giving testimony asked that the commissioners work toward eliminating the use of herbicides." Describes the various responses to this request. States that "initially, there was disagreement by commissioners about whether or not the PHAC [Public Health Advisory Committee] should be involved in the review of the current policy. . .after a discussion and a fair amount of negotiation among commissioners, an agreement was reached. The VMAC [Vegetation Management Advisory Committee] and PHAC would both be involved in determining how a `chemicals as a last resort' policy might be implemented by the Public Works Department." |
