Abstract/Contents:"Fine turf swards and seed multiplication fields tend to become invaded with grass weeds such as Poa annua and Holcus lanatus. The herbicidal methods of grass weed control generally available at present are not very effective. One way of overcoming this problem is to breed new cultivars which have resistance to grass-killing herbicides. The first two herbicide-tolerant fine turf cultivars are Countess Chewings fescue (Festuca nigrescens) and Duchess browntop bent (Agrostis tenuis), both of which are aminotriazole-tolerant. Weed grass species can be eliminated from lawns or seed production fields of Countess and Duchess by spraying with aminotriazol. Further information is available from the authors."
