| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to "evaluate the rate of ball mark recovery among 13 creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) and two velvet bentgrass (A canina L.) cultivars without the confounding variables of age, construction, topdressing medium, cultural management, and growing environment." Details the materials and methods used the study, stating that "the putting green was constructed in 1998 according to USGA [United States Golf Association] recommendations using a mix of 85% sand and 15% peat (by volume)." Reports that "in general, less damage and more rapid turf recovery occured on the newer bentgrass cultivars, notably A-4 and G-2, which are increasingly being used on golf courses in the northeastern United States and throughout North America." |
