| Abstract/Contents: | "Nine grasses selected for xeric landscaping were tested during germination for resistance to three herbicides: dicamba (Banvel), chlorsulfuron (Glean) and sulfmeturon methyl (oust). These herbicides were applied preemergent to grasses sown in containers containing a U.C. Davis mix (50:50 sand and peat) and grown in a greenhouse. Application rates were 0.28 and 0.56 kg a.e./ha, 35 and 70 g a.i./ha, and 0.47 and 0.95 kg a.i./ha respectively. Dicamba and chlorsulfuron only slightly affected growth and did not effect the survival of several of the species tested. In contrast, sulfmeturon methyl killed or significantly reduced the growth of all grasses tested." |
