| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the role of the superintendent in a golf green reconstruction project. States that "today's superintendents are often finding themselves charged with responsibilities critical to the success of one of the most important improvement projects a course can undertake. To meet these responsibilities, the superintendent must play a very active role in materials selection and quality control testing." Describes the steps that should be taken by a superintendent, including pre-qualifying construction materials, developing a standard or target mixture, blending stockpiles, and comparing them with the standard. Concludes that the superintendent "should strive to learn everything possibile about green construction and rootzone testing issues." |
