Abstract/Contents:"In 1974 the frit fly has once again given big damages. The attacks have been concentrated to the south-west of Sweden. This is probably due to the weather conditions. During several years various attacks at of the frit fly have been recorded. All the grass species used for turf might be attacked. The frit fly is also known over a wide geographical area. Attacks have been noticed over all northern Europe (Sweden, Finland, Norway, Danmark [Denmark], Germany). The wide distribution is definitely a warning to greenkeepers. New attacks are likely to come. Look out for symptoms in order to make preventive spraying in proper time. The recommendations given earlier (Dahlsson 1971) are still valid. Diazinon gives good control. You can also use dimethoat or metoxychlor. On seriously damaged turf the treatment should be repeated."
