Abstract/Contents:Discusses several different factors that may influence the results of insecticides used for controlling grubs, including proper timing of insecticide application. States that application is best done when the grubs are small and near the surface. Mid-August to mid-September are good months for application as opposed to June and July. Thatch and soil moisture should be noted before application because they influence the insecticides penetration. A 1/4" to 1/2" of irrigation water should be applied soon after the application of the insecticide. Mentions that insecticides may be hindered by misapplication due to improper calibration of unsuitable equipment. Also states that bacteria may aid in insecticide degradation. The white grub population may hold a combination of different species so specific insecticides aimed for white grubs may not affect the other species. Emphasizes the importance of checking pH and water levels in the spray tank since these also effect insecticides' potency.
