| Abstract/Contents: | Describes a detailed study on mole crickets (S. Acletus and vicinus), including the Florida Sate mole cricket research project to develop information on the southern mole cricket species for possible management in crops and turfgrass. Physical identification and structural composition are examined. Damage evidence of tunnels, compaction results and root feeding, plus a look at turfgrass species most susceptible to damage are given. Control is discussed with emphasis on natural control, resistant turf varieties, biological control, and chemical control methods such as insecticides, soap flushes, and baits. |
