Abstract/Contents:Discusses essential nutrients of turfgrass, soil testing, types of fertilizer, rates of application, nitrogen, frequency of fertilizer application, and precautions to consider. States that there are 16 essential nutritional elements for growth and development of turfgrass micronutrients found in the soil. There are different soil analysis procedures; the most common is the pH test. A complete fertilizer contains nitrogen, phosphate, and potash. Application rate is determined by type of fertilizer and how much nitrogen is present. Fertilization frequency depends on the level of maintenance and lawn quality desired. Presents some precautions for fertilizer including burning, not over-fertilizing, and applying when the ground is dry.
