Abstract/Contents: | "Several experimental preemergence herbicides were applied for crabgrass and goosegrass control in cool-season turfgrasses during the mid-to-late spring season. A820, CG10832, PPG139 and RP17623 gave good crabgrass control. April versus May application of several of preemergence types show that more specific guidelines are needed to obtain most efficient crabgrass control. The loss in performance of several chemicals when applied with water as a carrier versus a dry carrier shows that dry application should be used until the performance of spray applications is proven. Goosegrass (Eleusine indica) control was fair to good for several chemicals, but on the basis of consistency of control and the amount of turf injury, all materials can be considered poor to unsatisfactory. Far better preemergence herbicides should be sought for goosegrass control." |
