Abstract/Contents:"It is since 1990 that the section land improvement offers fertilizer advice bases on EDV for sports grounds and golf courses. Advantage was taken of this advice so far 1300 times. The objective is to fertilize according to demand which reduces the burden on the environment. When evaluating the results of the soil analyses, it was apparent that the sports grounds showed an averge [average] supply most of the time. Now as before, there is a tendency towards a phosphate level, which is too high, whereas the potash level is generally too low. Whether the advice on fertilizer is succesful [sucessful] or not despends [depends], however, on the fact whether this advice is properly used, and this is apparently not always done. The soil analyses of sports grounds where advice on fertilizer is provided should be carried every two out to [of] three years. It is particularly important in water protection areas. In order to optimize the practice of fertilization, an improved education and advanced training of the green keepers should be envisaged. The golf courses show a much poorer picture than expected as far as nutrients are concerned. The present study does not indicate an increased danger of washing-out of the intensively used areas of a golf course. The highest concentration of nutrients was found on the fairways."
