| Abstract/Contents: | Lists some recent regulations regarding the contact fungicide chlorothalonil. Says that chlorothalonil is not permitted for use on home lawns but may be used on crops. Details the restrictions of use on golf courses. States that "turfgrass uses are considered to pose a high risk to aquatic ecosystems because of the high application rates used frequently and repeatedly." Points out that the restrictions are "a foundation of EPA's decision to allow reregistration of chlorothalonil on turfgrass" and that "repeated violations...could place at risk the registration of chlorothalonil on turfgrasses." Urges turf managers to obey restrictions on use in order to prevent revocation of chlorothalonil's registration. Reminds them that, often, "a love for nature and being outdoors" motivated them to get into the business in the first place. Provides some resources which can be used to find alternatives to chlorothalonil. |
