Abstract/Contents: | Explains the function of chlorine, "the most abundant micronutrient in most plant tissues," in plants. Describes several processes in which chlorine plays a fundamental role, including "oxygen evolution in photosynthesis," "ion concentration in vacuoles," "stomate functioning," "osmotic adjustment," and "cell division and expansion." States that "a Cl deficiency has yet to be reported for turfgrasses" but that "is not to say that turf never experiences insufficient Cl for optimum growth." Discusses situations in which both chlorine deficiency and toxicity may occur and how to most effectively treat both situations. |
