| Abstract/Contents: | The following weed control results were evaluated from container and field studies tested over several years: 1. chlorflurenol + MCPA (CFM) and Dicamnba + MCPA (DIM) proved to be highly and widely effective; 2. paraffin oil Oleo 11 E slightly enhanced herbicides effectiveness, but was slighty phytotoxic to the turfgrass; 3. fertilizers in combination with CFM and DIM applied at up to four times the rate did not cause phytotoxicity; 4. DIM in combination with fertilizers was the most effective; 5. water supply had a considerable influence on turf growth. Soil type, soil reaction, grass type or water supply did not affect the compatibility of CFM or DIM. 6. Dichlorprop + loxynil was the most effective in controlling common speedwell. 7. Satisfactory control of Holcus lanatus was not achieved with the chemicals tested. 8. Dazomet and Methabenzthiazuron is mentioned for Poa annua control. 9. Iron sulphate + ammonium-sulphate temporarily controlled moss. 10. One fertilizer applications was found to control 40% of a weed population. |
