Abstract/Contents:Reports 1984 results on 6 bentgrass cultivars established in Fall, 1980, and maintained at 3/32-inch mowing height were studied under three fertility levels, 0.5, 0.8, and 1.2 lb N/1000 ft2 /growing month. Penncross maintained the best season-long quality. It was followed by Penneagle, Emerald, Prominent, Kingstown, and Seaside. Only Penncross and Penneagle maintained an acceptable quality over the entire season. Each cultivar increased in quality as the N was increased. However, the increase in quality between 0.8 to 1.2 lb N was not worth the application. The 0.8 lb N/growing month is the recommended rate.
