| Abstract/Contents: | This study tested preemergence crabgrass control. The materials used included the experimental herbicides Dowco 356 and Devrinol, plus Dacthal, Betasan, Benefin, and Oxadiazon. After 18 days following application, plots treated with Devrinol showed phytotoxicity injury. All other plots had no injury. Dowco 356 was not effective in controlling crabgrass. Two applications of Dacthal were needed for complete control. Devrinol WP reduced crabgrass, but was not entirely effective. Where Devrinol was combined with Betasan, crabgrass numbers were significantly reduced, but control was not as complete as where Betasan was applied alone at the 10 lb ai/A. Oxadiazon was effective in control and no phytotoxicity Benefin combined with 23-3-5 fertilizer was not effective where single applications at a 2 lb rate. However, this was effective when followed up by a 1.5 lb ai/A application 33 days after the initial treatment. |
