Abstract/Contents:Discusses potential disadvantages of severe slopes in landscaping, including "decreased infiltration rate"; "hard to mow"; "hard to fertilize"; and "hard to mulch." Offers potential design solutions, including "re-grading"; "terraces and retaining walls"; and "changes in management." Explains that "any technique that improves infiltration will reduce runoff. The common maintenance practice of aeration will increase the percolation rate, enhancing downward water movement."
