Abstract/Contents:"Nicobifen (BAS 510 F) is a new anilide fungicide developed by BASF. It interferes with mitochondrial respiration and ATP production by inhibiting the succinate-ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex II) in the electron transport chain. Microscopic and field studies show excellent preventative activity of nicobifen against a broad spectrum of Ascomycete and Deuteromycete pathogens. Nicobifen moves in a translaminar and acropetally systemic manner. Nicobifen is efficacious against a broad range of pathogens of legumes, canola, lettuce, peanut, potato, fruiting vegetables, and turfgrass with excellent crop safety. Nicobifen is also in development as a pre-mix fungicide (BAS 516 F) with pyraclostrobin. BAS 516 F effectively controls the majority of foliar fungal pathogens on small berries, bulb vegetables, carrots, grapes, onions, treenuts, stonefruits, and strawberries. Nicobifen and BAS 516 F are currently under registration review by the EPA and the PMRA. Both nicobifen and BAS 516 F will make excellent foundations for disease control programs and fungicide resistance management."
