| Abstract/Contents: | "The test was conducted on a golf course fairway near Crofton, Anne Arundel County, Md. The turf had been badly damaged by the the heavy infestation of grubs at the time of treatment on 28 Aug. Plots were 6 X 6 ft, arranged in a randomized complete block design, and replicated 4 times. All granular formulations were applied with a hand-held shaker can, except Spectracide, which was applied with a Scott's drop spreader. Liquid formulations were applied with a 2-gal sprinkling can. All applications were made in 2 directions across each plot. Treatments were watered into the thatch with 0.5 inches water with the golf course irrigation system. The number of dead grubs on the surface of the plots was counted on 29 Aug. All plots were treated with Sevin at 6 lb (AI)/acre on 16 Sep. Counts from this treatment were made on 17 Sep. Only Spectracide 5G, UC27BF32 3.3F (4.0 lb), Turcam 76W, CGA12223, UC27BF33, Pestroy 8E, PP993 1.5G, Sevin SL + Aqua Gro, Sevin SL, and UC27BF33 3G provided good to excellent control. After 18 days, Dursban 4E and CGA171035 10G, in addition to the above materials also provided good control." |
