| Abstract/Contents: | "A line of biofungicide products, based on Trichoderma harzianum strain T-22, has been launched by BioWorks, Inc. Products are available for seed treatment, soil-free potting mixes, greenhouse crops, transplants, turf, and infurrow application. T-22 has been shown to control Pythium, Fusarium and Rhizoctonia in several types of soil by colonizing the rhizosphere. Because of this root protection, enhanced root development has been observed using T-22 biofungicide products. Improved root vigor due to pathogen control resulted in increased yields. Field trials were conducted in 1996 on a variety of crops in diverse locations. Average yields increased for sweet corn (fresh market + 66 doz./A, processing + 0.25 tons), grain corn (+ 3.7 bu/A), silage corn (+4.1 ton/A), soybeans (+ 3.9 bu/A), dry beans (142 lb/A) and potato (+ 1.8 ton/A). The results of these trials and other applications using T-22 will be presented." |
