| Abstract/Contents: | "CGA-279202 is a new fungicide being developed on pome fruit, grapes, cucurbits, and peanuts as well as other crops and turf. This compound is in the strobilurin class of chemistry. Specifically it is an oximinoacetate. CGA-279202 acts as an inhibitor of mitochondrial respiration, obstructing electron transfer in the mitochondria of fungal cells. It acts on a broad range of fungal pathogens. CGA-279202 has an excellent safety profile. The half-life is 7-21 and 0.5-2 days in soil and water respectively. The primary mode of degradation is microbial. It is safe to birds and bees. While being toxic to fish and other aquatic invertebrates, due to the low use rate, the short half-life and binding to the soil, CGA-279202 poses minimal risk. In the plant, CGA-279202 is broken down to minor metabolities, with parent being the major residue. CGA-279202 has been classified as a reduced risk compound by the USEPA. The proposed common name for CGA-279202 is trifloxystrobin." |
