| Abstract/Contents: | Reports results of the tests conducted on 34 varieties of Kentucky bluegrass to measure stored growth reserves with emphasis of developing a variety to withstand the extreme hot temperatures of the southwest in the summer. Data presented indicates that the Adelphi and Bonnieblue varieties may have undergone short term adaptation to environmental stress (heat) factors. Regrowth reserves decline rapidly after march for delta but reserves remain high for Adelphi until September. This research may help in developing a cool-season grass that can withstand the extreme heat of the southwest without going dormant. |
