Abstract/Contents:"SUMMARY: This contribution first of all refers to the problems encountered by the specialist when DIN 18035, Part 4 was applied in practice. When the standard was ammended, more attention was paid to an economical construction well adapted to the soil. It requires much more know-how and horticultural understanding of vegetation techniques, soil biology and soil structure, if the possibilities and limits of a future-orientated construction, well adapted to the soil, are to be realized and utilized." The positive qualities of a close to the surface construction are extolled. Then an overview of certain problems that must be taken into consideration when constructing such a system, such as weather, the use of machines and vehicles that only minimally compact the surface, and making certain that sufficient knowledge of both plant and soil sciences is amassed and understood before construction.
