| Abstract/Contents: | "In accordance with the Seed Act 'special cultivation tests for the utilization as turf' are carried out for the purpose of entry into the 'List of Turf Varieties with individual description'. These variety tests consist of four individual tests in which the qualification of the turf for ordinary purposes, for high wear and tear, for landscape purposes and the assortment is tested. At present a total of 350 different places in the Federal Republic of Germany and Berlin-West for a period of three years. The bonitures for the assessment of the different characteristics range 1 to 9 in numerical order. The properties of the different varieties are also described by a similar scheme, also consisting of 9 different grades of description. The assessment of all types of grasses permits a comparability of the individual varieties, providing thus the basis for the 'List of Turf Varieties with individual description'." |
