Abstract/Contents:Details problems faced on Florida greens due to excessive rainfall, difficulties with overseeding, grass transitions and environmental stresses. Details the pros of using ultradwarf grasses for putting greens and discusses the features of them. Offers suggestions on rootzone construction, organic matter management, growing grass, and realistic expectations for maintaining ultradwarf grasses. Recommends not having high sand content when constructing rootzone and instead using the proper mix for rootzones. Recommends "that a distinct layer of excessive thatch not be allowed to form". Suggests picking a cutting height that isn't so low as to cause environmental stresses to take over and ruin the greens. Introduces seashore paspalum as an alternative to using bermudagrass for greens. Compares and contrasts seashore paspalum with bermudagrass.
