Abstract/Contents:Announces that a genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant grass variety will soon be ready to use. Briefly describes places where the grass variety has been grown. Briefly discusses new research that has found that the gene for glyphosate-tolerance has moved into other plant species. States that "bentgrass is the first plant to be genetically engineered in the U.S. that is both a widespread perennial and a plant that grows well without cultivation." Also states that bentgrass is "the first genetically engineered crop that has close relatives into which genes can spread."
