| Abstract/Contents: | A 5 year study to determine resistance to Fusarium patch, with normal maintenance programs (over and extended period of time), of 29 selections of 156 varieties and cultivars of 'tenuis', 'palustris', and 'canina' bentgrass. Emphasis was placed on Nitrogen levels and the responses achieved from vegetative varieties and seeded types. Some differences appear among varieties, nitrogen level, and Poa annua amounts. There is more Poa annua evident when there are low nitrogen levels. Vigor and density of bentgrass still plays important resistance to Poa annua. All 29 bentgrasses received an application of endothall in 1977. Two more in 1978 were to determine bentgrass ability to withstand Poa annua post-emergent treatments. Loss of color because of treatments was not significant. Results helped conclude that nitrogen levels of 8-10 lb are very satisfactory, and that all bentgrass varieties tested survive endothall treatments for Poa annua control except Kingstown velvet bentgrass. |
