Abstract/Contents:Discusses using an environmentally friendly approach to designing and building a golf course. Explains that "one of the hallmarks of an environmental golf course is you try to use the least amount of water, fertilizer, pesticides and fossil fuels - whenever you reduce those things, you save money for long-term maintenance." Discusses the importance of having Audubon International certification at either the Gold, Silver or Bronze level, explaining that to achieve the certification, golf courses "must comply with a resource management plan compiled by Audubon representatives. Courses are inspected and re-certified on an annual basis for five years to ensure ongoing compliance."
