Abstract/Contents:Report of research on nitrate washout. "Experiments were carried out in receptacle lysimeters with layers structured according to DIN 18035 T 4. [5 cm sand base followed by 10 cm drainage layer and 15 cm top layer. All covered with RSM5 sod on jute matting] Different types of fertilizer [Urea formaldehyde (nitrozol) Ammonium Sulfate w/N stabilizer (Alzodin), Nitrogen, Phosphor, Calcium, Magnesium and trace elements (Osmocote 15-11-13-2) and Urea (Usnocote 39-0-0)] with long-term effects were applied and compared with plots where calcium ammonium nitrate had been used. All plots were irrigated with 50 mm of water once a week. The nitrate contents in the seepage water was then measured. The results of the variants without turf growth provided information on the amount of nitrate to be washed out during the 24 week observation period. The washing-out rates of turf based on RSM 5 showed the rate of utilization and the reduction of the washing-out effect by the turf grasses. The results characterize the effectiveness of the different types of fertilizer. There were different total quotas of nitrate formation. ..." The long-term fertilizers, especially netrozol, showed a better nitrate utilization and the associated reduction of the wash-out effect.
