Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of ecological planning in the design and construction of golf courses and how this can reduce conflicts between golf course planners and the German Nature Protection Act. A thorough ecological study of the proposed site is recommended prior to beginning course layout and design. Suggests that golf course layout and construction cause a minimum of disturbance/disruption to natural plants and animals. The design should take maximum advantage of changes in topography and vegetation to keep things as natural as possible. Provides several addtional suggestions for locations of tees, greens, etc., so that required maintenance activities cause the least ecological disturbance possible. Has three photos and one layout diagram of courses. |
