Abstract/Contents:Discusses the migratory birds that use golf courses as "rest stops." States that "there are more than 200 species of shorebirds found throughout the world who spend most of their time along our ocean's shores. More than 20 species spend at least a portion of the year in Georgia." Lists some migrant bird species that rest in Georgia. Explains that "the types of areas that shorebirds use vary widely. However, the birds generally prefer areas that are open and free of trees and shrubs." Presents tips for attracting the migratory birds. States that "shorebirds exhibit great fidelity to feeding areas. Consequently, birds that are attracted to feeding areas on courses are likely to return in fugure years." Stresses the importance of providing feeding and resting sites for migratory birds.
