Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the $32.4 million National Turfgrass Research Initiative, in which the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service "eventually would hire 72 turfgrass scientists and provide about $10 million in annual funding to university for cooperative research." Explains the events that need to take place before the turfgrass initiative can come to fruition, stating that "Congress must first pass initial budget requests calling for $5.4 million and 12 research positions. Describes the USDA's association with turfgrass research and the golf industry. |
