| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the difficulties in controlling rapid blight disease. Describes the effect of rapid blight disease on turf. Presents a study to "evaluate 49 different cool-season turfgrass species for their relative tolerance to rapid blight disease." Mentions that the "plants were wounded prior to inoculation by trimming with scissors." Results included that "several cool-season turfgrasses to be tolerant of rapid blight under conditions of moderately high salinity stress." Concludes that "blending rapid-establishing susceptible grasses with tolerant grasses is a promising strategy to reduce the risk of devastating epidemics of rapid blight. |
